In 2005 I posted on Craigslist that I was looking for a Nice Jewish Girl. I said I know what I'm looking for, that I'm getting out there, so it's just up to luck. And it worked. Just getting myself on that site, found me my wife.
My now wife had just moved to Chicago and wanted to try something besides JDate. She looked on Craigslist and found my post. It's totally random, but it worked.
Now, most of the time, there aren't many Jews on Craigslist that advertise as such, but I took the chance, put myself out there. She took the chance and replied to my post.
The moral of the story? Join haZug (The Couple), tell your friends, get as many people on the site as possible and you'll increase your chancese of meeting the right person. It's free, and it can work for you.
The Talmud (Sotah 2b) says that 30 days after conception a divine voice descends and declares this one will marry that one, but it's up to you to find your ben zug / bat zug (couple).
